Presenting children's books from Norway in Shanghai
On the way to Norway’s Guest of Honour appearance at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026.

In November, NORLA was in Shanghai to present Norwegian children’s literature at one of the world’s key industry fairs.
Our goal was to build new connections and strengthen existing ones, paving the way for Norway’s Guest of Honour appearance at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026.

At our stand, we could present our Guest of Honour-motto What if. We met publishers, agents, and partners from around the world and were thrilled to share the creativity, diversity, and imagination of Norwegian children’s literature with an international audience.

On the reception at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai with NORLA-director Margit Walsø it was a full house gathering with Norwegian authors, illustrators, and publishers.

There was great interest in Norwegian children’s literature and in “Norway in the limelight” ahead of our Guest of Honour year at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026.
Authors Øyvind Torseter and Marianne Grettberg Engedal met an interested audience and Merete Pharo from Saga Agency took part in the bookfa ir’s international fellowship.
We had many fruitful meetings with both long-time and brand-new partners.

The programme at the Shanghai bookfair inclueded also a panel discussion on children’s books from Norway with Øyvind Torseter, Merete Pharo (Saga Literary Agency), Marit Alette Utsi (Dvvi Girji) and Svein Størksen (Magikon).
