Inger Lise Belsvik

About Inger Lise Belsvik
Inger Lise Belsvik has illustrated more than 40 children’s books. She would discribe her visual language as playful, expressionistic and naivistic. Many Norwegian children’s books have quite serious themes, and she hopes that her illustrations give sensitive and psycological depth to the book.
Belsvik mostly works in acrylics, but she also enjoys lino cut, gouache, collage and a mix of several tecniques. Her work is colourful, but she tries to limit the amount of colours. That way each page in the book will have one main tone, mixed with a few others that either challenge the main colour, or blend in with it.
