About Jannicke Hansen

Jannicke Hansen is a Norwegian illustrator and picturebook maker. She lives and works in Sandens, on the west coast of Norway. She has a bachelor’s degree in visual communication from Bergen Academy of Art and Design (2013-2016) and has gone on to illustrate several books, for both Norwegian and International publishers. Her  debut picturebook Hvit written by Silje Hansen Flemmen, has been translated in to four different languages.

She is passionate about telling stories through pictures and does so with varied and playful compositions. She works with mixed media, where most of the illustrations are paint and color pencils and last bit is digital. Jannicke is a slow sketcher and a fast painter, constantly trying to get as much texture and life into the illustration as possible.
