About Sissel Horndal

Sissel Horndal (born in 1970) is an artist, author and designer from northern Norway, where she lives and works.
She was educated at Nordland Art and Film School in Kabelvåg and at Bergen Academy of Art and Design and has been working with children’s books since 1998. Horndal was one of 17 nordic illustrators that participated in the traveling exhibition «Into the wind!», with children’s book illustrations (2016-2018). She was Festival artist at «Alfa og Omega», a literature festival for children in Bergen and guest at the International Literature Festival Berlin in 2019. Her books were presented during the norwegian Guest-of-Honour projects at the Frankfurt Book Fair (2019) and the Leipzig Book Fair (2025). For the time being Sissel Horndal is a master student at the The Norwegian Institute for Children’s Books at the Master’s Program in Creative Writing For Children and Youth and Dissemination.
