About Stian Hole
Stian Hole (born 1969) is a Norwegian illustrator, graphic designer and picturebook-maker. He has a master degree in visual communication from The National School of Arts and Design in Oslo. Hole has made numerous book covers and pickturebooks. His books are published in more than 25 countries. Garmann´s Summer (2006) received the Brage Prize, Bologna Ragazzi Award, and the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis. Stian Hole currently works and resides in Oslo. Among his most recent work for children is a triology made in cooperation with the Danish writer Kim Fupz Aakeson. The last book of the trilogy, Eventyr (2022), will be published in Italian (Questa Mia Nonna) in the spring of 2026. This will be Hole´s third book published in Italian. The illustration technique can be described as seamless, digital montages. The visual expression is often surreal and fairytale-like.
